Solar Hot Water
Energy Wise Solutions can install 2 (4' x 6.5', 4' x 8', or 4' x 10') solar flat plate collectors on a south face of your existing home to provide solar water preheat for your existing domestic hot water system. Copper pipe will be used to plumb the panels together on the roof and down to a small 10 gallon freeze-protected drainback tank in the attic. PEX supply and return line sets will be run between the drainback tank to a 60-80 gallon Hot Water storage tank to be mounted in the attic, garage, basement...near the existing, gas or electric back-up HotWater tank. Piping will be insulated where necessary. System is equipped with a Solvelox pump/heat-exchange system mounted on the new solar water pre-heat tank. The solar hot water system will be interconnected with the existing gas or electric hot water tank and is fully automated in the event of negligible solar collection due to continuous cloudy days.
There is a 35% state tax credit up to $1400 and a 30% federal tax credit with no cap for Solar Thermal heating application. If you were to combine solar space heat with domestic water heat, the cap is $3500 for the state tax credit.
There is a 10 year warranty on these top quality, SRCC certified flat plate Platinum collectors; customers can expect them to perform for 25-30 years.
